Salem’s Lot – First Look at the 2024 Adaptation

The highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot, directed by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home), is finally making its way to audiences later this year.

With its release confirmed for streaming on Max, fans of King’s chilling classic can prepare for a return to the eerie town of Jerusalem’s Lot.

A recent preview in Vanity Fair gave audiences their first look at the film, which Stephen King himself has praised. Earlier this year, King tweeted, “I’ve seen the new SALEM’S LOT and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything.” King’s endorsement has only heightened excitement for this adaptation of his 1975 novel.

Set in the same time period as the book’s original publication, Salem’s Lot (2024) captures the atmospheric dread of a small New England town plagued by a bloodthirsty vampire. The story follows Ben Mears, an author haunted by his childhood memories, who returns to Jerusalem’s Lot seeking inspiration for his next book. Instead, he uncovers a sinister presence lurking in the shadows—a vampire and his devoted servant preying on the town’s residents.

Dauberman’s adaptation promises a faithful homage to King’s work, with a slow-burn narrative that builds to an intense and terrifying climax. Early glimpses from the trailer and promotional materials highlight the film’s vintage aesthetic, expertly recreating the 1970s setting with a moody, Gothic atmosphere.

With its haunting storyline and King’s seal of approval, Salem’s Lot (2024) is poised to deliver a gripping horror experience. As it creeps closer to its release date, fans of classic vampire tales and Stephen King’s iconic storytelling won’t want to miss this chilling return to Jerusalem’s Lot.
